My Life At Work

As you all know, Ive been suffering in the hands of a colleague of mine, named JT. I used to enjoy going to work before. Now I cringe and curse at the thought of starting another day at work after she came to take over the task of my supervisor.

Too many characters in this story la. To avoid confusion, I’ve given codewords like Tommy and Mary to avoid confusion.

Two weeks back, I was having lunch at the office with my friend. Then Tommy came over to pass us some pears from Japan.. He first handed us two, but later decided to pass us the whole box to disseminate to our fellow colleagues. After finishing our lunch, we took a pear each and left the rest on the table. Then we proceeded to have our short nap. Then a colleague from another office stepped in and my friend, Karin asked her to bring 4 pears down to her office. (Cos we already put on aside for JT). Somehow or rather, there was a miscommunication and our Mary brought all the pears down to her office.

Let me just add a note here. Mary has always been a closer friend to JT then us. They’ve always had so many personal issues to yak about during working hours.

I had forgotten all of this pear issue when lunch was over. I was in a mad rush, doing an assignment which I had to finish by the end of the day. Suddenly JT came by and asked me where her share of the pears was. I was little taken back on how she found out, but she told me that Tommy sms-ed her that he brought some pears.

I walked over to the room where the one pear was supposed to be kept aside and realised it wasn’t there anymore. So I kinda figured out Mary would have brought that down with the other pears.

JT then called Mary and asked her to bring it up. I heard JT calling her a few times. Soon the clock hit 4.30pm and I made my way home.

The next morning, soon after we started work, JT called me over to her office. I grabbed a notepad and a pen and walked into her room.

(Hearing the urgency in her voice, I assumed it was something urgent, work related.)

After asking some immaterial stuff on my work she started on the pear topic again. This time she took out her phone and showed me the text message Tommy sent her.

JT: Gaya, do you know why I keep asking about the pear? Its not that I am hard up for food you know.. Its just that work is work and personal is personal.

ME: *Gives a blur reaction*

JT: I mean, you guys should at least inform me that Tommy brought a pear for me and all.. Its not nice.

ME: *Explains the whole scenario including the miscommunication part*

JT: But.. who gave Karin the instruction to distribute the pears..?
(for those who do not get it, this woman thinks Tommy brought all the pears for her and she is fuckin pissed that she did not get to do the distributing. What makes it worse is that she still has not got her pear yet.)

ME: JT,Tommy passed us our share first. Then he decided to leave all behind and asked us to distribute it. – this time, I begin to sound a little pissed off.

JT: Hey, just want you to know this is a small matter and its not about the pear. Its just…….

ME: *Interrupts JT* I’ll get your pear and pass it to you.

Then I faked a smile and left the room.

Small matter? Rightttt.

I called up Mary to ask about JT’s pear and apparently it had been given to the cleaner aunty.

When JT stepped out of the office for her toilet break, I left my pear on her desk. When she returned..

JT: Ahh Gaya, look… my pear is here!!

ME: *&^$*!!!

Updates!

(Here you go Sambo!)

Saturday, after work I slept.. and slept.. like a pig. After that, I woke up and headed to Prita’s home.. Watched two movies.. Surprisingly I kept awake all the time. Could be due to the nap I took earlier. Then, we took our breakfast at the coffee shop nearby and started talking cock on how we should continue this even after our marriage. (And Prita swore to find a partner who can get along with all of us. Haha.)

After that, my sis and I went around the whole of Yishun and Admiralty trying to find a nice birthday cake for our baby sister.

We managed to find a yummy nice cake and headed straight back home. Reached home only at 12pm. Was shacked to the max and slept again. Dad woke me up around 4+pm to celebrate baby’s birthday. (Before he left for work.)

Take a look at some of the pix. Sanjana looks as cute as ever.

Why does this always happen? Things that happen when you really dont want it to happen. But yesterday, it was a tad bit funny cos it didnt happen to me this time. LOL

It was time to send of my pal who had stayed over my place during the weekend. Send her off to the bus-stop I mean. So when we were making our way there from my home, my usually self-conscious sister shocked us by willingly offering to follow us down when she was not freshened up or changed into presentable looking clothes. Cos she was wearing a HUGE Tee Shirt which made her look 3x her built. Plus her hair was in a mess and to round it off, she looked erm.. disasterous.

While walking down to the bus stop, she kept repeating herself saying that she doesn’t want to see any tamilians on her way cos its her prestige problem.

Again.. and again.

Crapping away, my friend decided to miss a coupla buses just to spend a bit more quality time with us. We were waiting for the next bus and my friend blurted out saying that she saw a tamilian walking our way. My sis was hoping that my friend was kidding. And then I gave her a bigger surprise. “Hey sis, guess what? Its xxx.”

Btw, xxx is one guy my sis has a huge crush on. She always complained to me on how difficult it was for her to see him around though he lives just a block away.

I should have just video cammed her reaction lah. She practically covered her whole face with her hands and was sticking close to me in the hope that she can’t be seen. Wahaha! Her face turned all red and she was cursing my friend for missing those buses.

When he walked pass us, he gave a hesitant nod of acknowledgement before walking away a little weirdly. Maybe he actually watched us making a fool outta ourselves. After seeing this.. my sister screamed to my friend, “Hey, I don’t care! You better take the next bus!!

Awww.. How hurt was my poor friend.

The whole time I just kept laughing and laughing till I snorted. The reactions. From my sis and that guy. Just too hilarious.

Then my friend gave a solid statement.

“Hey it’s good when the guy you like sees you in a horrible state. Atleast you know his sincerity if he bothers calling you after that. And when you actually bother to dress up, he’ll be stunned to see the beauty in you. Isn’t that good!

Apparently that did not make my poor sis feel any better.

I’m depressed. It has finally happened. The marriage between Surya and Jyothika. I mean, I’ve heard countless rumors going on about both of them. I was ignoring it all the while hoping it was a harmless hoax.

But it happened. Alright, instead of whining I shall just share the pictures of the wedding.

P.S. Did you guys hear that? No? Oh.. Btw, it was the sound of my heart go crack.

My day has not been good so far. I’m just feeling a little mood out. Maybe it was caused by the lack of sleep I’m having. Firstly, I haven’t had the time to do the work which I’m rushing to do. Instead, I’m made to do some ‘kuching kurab’ stuff which has burnt a whole half day of mine. I was very tired and decided to nap during lunchtime. This was when my beloved colleague had to make a 10054624 phonecalls to -i don’t know who-.

And when she makes phonecalls, she just doesn’t pick up the receiver and dials the number. Instead, she prefers to use the speaker function and dial the number. Wtf? It becomes worse when the person in the other end refuses to answer the calls. Yea, what does she expect man? Its freaking lunchtime! Hello?!

This person is really strange. Her pattern is to assign things to staff at 11.31pm (lunchtime) or at 4.31pm (when everyone is rushing off home). Very inconsiderate. My fellow squirrel and myself were planning revenge one day. We decided to wait for the day where she will be really tired and goes off to nap. We planned to:

1) Walk in and out of the department banging doors real loud.
2) Stand near her cubicle and make lame jokes and laugh like devils.
3) Put our phone in the ’speaker’ mode and dial the numbers in a melodious way.
4) If the person answers, speak very loudly as if I’m making a call to my folks in a far end of the world.
5) If the person doesn’t answer, try again, and again until my hands begin to tire.

By the way, these are the things she loves to do to us when we are trying our best to catch our half and hour nap.

Once we had the opportunity to execute our plan. But seeing her swollen eyes and her rants of sleep deprivation, I once again became soft hearted and just let her rest.

And today, she does it again.

I am going to take my sweet revenge one day. Yeah.

Now you know, don’t ever play with my naptime. I might just eat you up.

And ya, if you haven’t heard already, Steve Irwin died today on 4th of September, on Barrier Reef, near Cairns.

I got this message on MSN and was told to put the turtle icon before my nick as a sign of respect.. I did it anyways.

KATMANDU, Nepal – Nepal’s shortest boy is waiting for word from the Guinness World Records, where he has applied to be named the shortest in the world, his supporters said on Wednesday.

Khagendra Thapa Magar, 14, is only 20 inches tall and weighs 10 pounds.

According to Min Bahadur Thapa, president of the Khagendra Thapa Magar Foundation, they are expecting to receive a reply from London-based Guinness World Records in the next few days. The foundation was set up to collect funds for the boy.

There was no listing on the Guinness World Records’ web site on a shortest boy category, but Thapa claimed their closest competitor was 25 inches tall.

The boy and family members are currently touring south Nepal, seeking support for the foundation.
