I got this one forwarded e-mail from one of my good friends. And being the good soul I usually am, I sent it around to all my colleagues and even my managers. And, I paid the price for it in the end.

Take a look at the e-mail.

After sufferering from flu and cough the whole week, I decided to see the doctor on Friday. Got an MC for the day.

This is how I found my workstation when I came back on Saturday.

That’s traces of tissue paper, toilet paper, and bits of all kinds of paper all over. So sweet of them, na?
They didn’t spare my three soft toys.
Thanks to Azizah and Jane.

Today is a date I’d never forget in my life. It has been exactly a year since my dad passed on. Bad memories linger around.. How he used to suffer in silence in the hospitals. How I saw him losing so much of weight in just a few months.

I still haven’t gotten over his loss, to be honest.

Sometimes when I am on the way back home after work, I’d be looking forward to see my dad on the way like how I used to before. Then it’ll strike me that I actually will never be able to see him again. Sometimes when I buy food back home, I’d wonder what should I get for my dad as well, and then it’ll strike me again. I have to take a person off the list. It really hurts so bad, but I don’t talk about it to my family members. I don’t want to rub salt into their wounds as I know they’re trying their best to move on as well.

When I watch any movies with any daddy sentiments, I tear so much. I miss those heart to heart talks I had with him. The jokes he used to crack just to see me smile. And the way he’d salute me before wishing me goodnight. These are memories which I’ll never be able to forget.

He’s not gone. He’s still living in my heart, and in the hearts of everyone who adored him as much.

I had been sleeping like a log the whole day but I’m still feeling so weary and lethargic. I guess sleeping more adds on to it.

On Friday, I headed down to Vivocity with Geeta, Prita, Dharshini and Vanan. Main purpose was to get some stuff from Bobbi Brown and Mac. My day was quite screwed at work. Firstly, I woke up late. Due to the mad rush, I felt for work leaving my beloved handphone at home. So I had to bear with the music-less journey. Work sucked big time. So many orders coming in at the last minute.

Dharshi and me wanted to meet Geeta first at Jurong Point but while waiting for her, I decided to get this beautiful bag to add to my collection. ;p Then came Prita, and then Geeta came with her car. We hopped on to her car and Geeta drove us to Vivo City. The ride was one of a kind. With all those jam brakes. She was entertaining us with all her weird stories on the way. That kinda brightened up my mood.

After that we all made our way to ‘The Chicken Rice Shop’ for our dinner. The taste of the food there was not too bad, but I seriously felt that it was not worth the price. They also failed in the customer service aspect.

When I got back home, I realised that I had a flower basket sent to my home with a note inside. I shall not reveal who the sender is.

It was a surprise, but not a pleasant one.

Saturday, I went work. After work, Ragu came down to my place. We spent the afternoon talking and decided to go for a dinner date. We went to Lau Pa Sat to have bbq-ed stingray, satay and all. Ate like a pig and after that we didn’t know what to do. Roamed around Orchard for a while and went back home. Dharshi and mum was shocked to see us come back so fast. They were like “Huh? Your date so fast ah?” Problem is, I and Ragu didn’t know what to do, or where to go. There are very limited things that a couple can do, in Singapore.

Sunday came, got up at 8am and woke all the jandoos up. We wanted to go to Downtown East! I was so bloody excited. Met up with Ragu and Vanan at Admiralty MRT station. I had to buy a footwear so yeah I got one at Kara.

Then we met Prita at Yishun MRT station to have breakfast. That woman was so pissed and grumpy ‘cos she hated being out in the sun. Lol.

Okay, we we had breakfast at Macs, den we took a bus down to Pasir Ris. Met Kohi along the way and we finally got to our destination. The rides were freaky. I was screaming my lungs off for the Viking and puncturing the ears of the two gentlemen at my sides. For the Invertor, I was so silent. After the ride, I was too shocked to react, but I started tearing from my eyes and my nose at the same time. Lol. In between the rides, we had our lunch at BK at Downtown East.

That’s my sis Dharshi and me. (And Ragu’s hand.) Dharshi looks like she’s attempting to kiss me. Hahaha..

After a few rides, I kinda overcame my fear. Had a very fun evening with all. The sweaty and stinky us headed to Hougang for our dinner, and then headed back home.

Today is a PH, but I was too lazy to go anywhere. Ragu and Prita came over. I just sent Ragu off to camp earlier. Haiz, hope he doesn’t get sent to Myanmar. I’d really miss him so much.

It’s going to be a very busy day at work for the next two weeks. Jane’s going to a holiday to Tokyo.

A very Happy Vesak Day to all my buddist friends.

My colleague Ah Boon just approached me and asked a few lame ass riddles I had never heard in my life. Probably he came up with it himself. I shoo-ed him off before he had me crying for help.

Don’t worry, I always share the good stuff. (Or the not so good stuff in this matter.)

Enjoy.

Lame jokes of the day

Qn: What’s the name of the tallest building in the world?
Ans: Mosque. Cos it’s tall enough to reach the cresent and the star.

Qn: Why did the crazy man who took the flight to the U.S. throw the toilet bowl out of the plane?
Ans: Cos he’s mad. And that enables him to do WHATEVER he wants.

Qn: There are three ants walking straight in a line. The last one says ‘”There are two ants infront of me.” The middle one says “There is one ant infront of me.” Why does the first one also say “There is one ant infront of me.”?
Ans: Eh hello? You okay or not? Where got ants speak human language?

(-_-)

Please excuse me, I’m walking over to bang my head on the walls for wasting my time hearing those. I will catch up with ya’ll soon.

Top California court rules gays may marry

SAN FRANCISCO – THE California Supreme Court overturned a ban on same-sex marriages on Thursday in a major victory for gay rights advocates that will allow homosexual couples to marry in the most populous US state.

The court found that California laws limiting marriage to heterosexual couples are at odds with rights guaranteed by the state’s constitution. Opponents of gay marriage vowed to contest the ruling with a statewide ballot measure for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages.

The ruling would allow California to be the second state, after Massachusetts, to allow gay marriage. Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Vermont permit same-sex civil unions that grant largely similar rights as those for married couples but lack the full, federal legal protections of marriage.

The California court’s 4-3 decision overturns state laws prohibiting same-sex nuptials and is likely to influence other states expected to rule on gay marriage.

The state’s constitution ‘guarantees same-sex couples the same substantive constitutional rights as opposite-sex couples to choose one’s life partner and enter with that person into a committed, officially recognised, and protected family relationship,’ the court said.

Gay marriage has been one of the most divisive issues in recent American politics and has mobilised millions of socially conservative Christian voters to support candidates such as President George W. Bush who oppose it.

In San Francisco, a bastion of gay rights with its large and vocal gay community, people were quick to react to the landmark ruling and started making marriage plans.

Ms Susan Graham, 46, sent a text message to her female partner of 10 years proposing marriage. She responded: ‘Are you kidding? Absolutely.’ Mr Bruce Ivie, 51, and partner Mr David Bowers, 61, were the first people at the San Francisco court clerk’s office to obtain a copy of the decision.

‘Sweet,’ Mr Ivie said on finding the decision’s bottom line on the state’s ban on gay marriage. ‘The second paragraph says it all to me: It’s unconstitutional.’

San Francisco readies licencesCalifornians in 2000 voted to re-affirm a 1977 state law defining marriage as union of a man and woman. But four years later, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom challenged that law by issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, which led to the court battle decided on Thursday by the state Supreme Court.

Mr Newsom said his controversial policy had been vindicated and that he plans to resume issuing marriage licenses for same-sex couples in coming weeks.

‘It’s an exhilarating feeling. That’s the best I can describe it,’ he said. ‘At the end of the day, this is about real people and their lives and their families, and it doesn’t get much more personal than that.’

Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had opposed San Francisco’s marriage licences for gays, said he would uphold the state supreme court’s decision.

‘Also, as I have said in the past, I will not support an amendment to the constitution that would overturn this state supreme court ruling,’ he said.

A dissenting opinion by Judge Marvin Baxter and joined by Judge Ming Chin said a narrow majority of the court had carved a constitutional right out of existing equal-protection laws, overstepping legislative powers in what amounted to ‘legal jujitsu.’ A third justice dissented on different grounds.
‘It simply does not have the right to erase, then re-cast, the age-old definition of marriage, as virtually all societies have understood it, in order to satisfy its own contemporary notions of equality and justice,’ Judge Baxter wrote.

But the Judicial Council of California, which oversees state courts, said the ruling is final in 30 days and municipalities must prepare to issue marriage licences to gay and lesbian couples.
Opponents of gay marriage said they will ask voters in the November election to endorse a constitutional amendment on the state ballot that would supersede the court’s ruling by defining marriage exclusively as between a man and woman.

‘These out-of-touch California judges will not have the last word on marriage,’ said Mr Brian Brown, head of the National Organization for Marriage California.
Both sides of the debate agreed the California court’s decision raised the stakes in the national debate over gay marriage. Mr Newsom predicted it would resonate across the United States: ‘As California goes, so goes the nation,’ he said.

Mr Randy Thomasson of Campaign for Children and Families said that scenario would further energise opponents of gay marriage.

‘If these judges get away with it, other state supreme courts may get the same idea they can make up the law,’ he said. — REUTERS

Be careful if you’re intending to fool someone online.. Even if it’s your own friend. The consequences may be very deadly.

US mom indicted for MySpace hoax linked to teen’s suicide

LOS ANGELES – AN American mother was indicted on Thursday in connection with a MySpace hoax that ended with a 13-year-old girl committing suicide after being spurned by a fictitious boy.

A federal grand jury in Los Angeles indicted Lori Drew, 49, on criminal charges of conspiracy and accessing MySpace computers ‘without authorisation to inflict emotional distress on the girl.’

‘This adult woman used the Internet to target an innocent girl with horrendous consequences,’ Los Angeles US Attorney Thomas O’Brien said during a press conference announcing the indictment.

‘Any adult who uses the Internet or a social networking website to bully another person, particularly a vulnerable teenage girl, should realise this has serious consequences.’

Drew was among several adults who pretended to be a 16-year-old boy named ‘Josh’ on MySpace, according to prosecutors. The girl met ‘Josh’ in the online community after she opened her MySpace account in 2006.

‘Within days Josh was telling her she was sexy,’ Mr O’Brien said. ‘The flirting continued for three weeks.’

Josh broke off the virtual relationship and sent the girl a message saying the world would be better off without her, according to prosecutors. Within an hour of receiving the message the girl hanged herself in her bedroom.

Drew and ‘co-conspirators’ used her home computer to chat with the girl on MySpace and gleaned from online exchanges to ‘torment, harass, humiliate and embarrass’ the girl, according to the indictment.

‘MySpace does not tolerate cyberbullying and is cooperating fully with the US Attorney in this matter,’ MySpace said in a written reply to an AFP inquiry.

Drew deleted the ‘Josh’ profile from MySpace after getting word that the girl, a neighbour, hanged herself, according to prosecutors.

‘This adult hid behind cyber walls in cyber space,’ Los Angeles FBI assistant director Salvador Hernandez said during the press conference.

‘Whether the defendant could see the ramifications of this choice she is accountable for what happened. These actions are cruel and unjustified.’

Each of the four criminal counts listed in the indictment carries a maximum prison term of five years. — AFP

A friendly warning to you all.

Do TAKE NOTE.

90 buses fitted with cameras to catch errant drivers cutting into bus lane

By Maria Almenoar

DON’T try and cut into the bus lanes from June 2. You may be caught on camera – from a bus. Ninety buses on 12 services will have cameras fitted on the front to help the authorities catch errant driver violating the bus lane rule, which is to ensure buses get an uninteruppted run down their lanes.

The buses with cameras will ply both the city areas and the heartlands, on services which cover the new areas designated as full day bus lanes, said LTA on Thursday.

Eleven stretches of road in the city, which are already designated normal bus lanes – operating only in the morning and evening – will be converted to full day bus lanes.

Full day bus lanes are in operation from 7.30am to 8pm on weekdays and Saturdays, except on public holidays.

All the new full-day bus lanes are in the Central Business District and include stretches on Grange Road, Bencoolen Street, South Bridge Road, Victoria Street, New Bridge Road, Hill Street, Robinson Road, Shenton way, Fullerton Road and Collyer Quay.

Recent happenings around the world makes me ponder what is the universe coming to.. An end?

It’s really disheartening to hear of so many unfateful events over a short perid of time. The cyclone in Myanmar, Earthquake at China, Bomb blasts at India.. So many loss of lives..

I pray and hope god helps all affected families by giving them hope, courage and strength for them to move on..

And as I’m typing this, I get a call from Ragu saying he might be sent to Myanmar. Argh.
