It was a disappointment indeed. I had to drag myself for this movie, cos I had a feeling this was gonna suck big time.

I’m speechless as to how to describe the movie, so I shall just go straight to my rating upon ten.

Rating: 2/ 10

(I actually wanted to give a zero, but decided to award 1 for Vikram, and 1 for the efforts.)

Stupid people turn me off.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Grace @ 11:22 am

I know that no one gets turned on by stupid people, but it’s really annoying when you can see through the brains of stupid people just by the way they speak.

I just spent sometime sending a message to a stupid person, just to get a very stupid reply back in return. Well, now you’d be wondering why on earth would I want to message a stupid person right. Well, it’s for a reason which can’t be published here right now.

Well, stupid person, be happy that I’m in a good mood today. Or else the reply you’d have gotten back would have been very nasty.

Hush hush.

I’ve heard that SMRT has become very strict over commuters who consume anything in the trains.

So scrupulous that sometime last month, a lady was fined SGD 30 for chewing a sweet, which she needed to relieve her motion sickness. (Don’t be too happy that the fine amount is just 30 bucks. Eating and drinking in the MRT carries a maximum fine of $500.)

Is this really necessary? I understand that a very lenient SMRT became so unpermissive after the picture of three happy women devouring yummy looking varieties of bread started circulating in the Internet, via the Straits Times.

As usual, the typical Singaporeans who complain about just anything, started throwing comments on how SMRT should not just let off people with a warning. Okay, fair enough. These kind of thoughtless people should be fined. But issuing fines to people who pop those sweets is a little too much.

In an over-crowded place like Singapore, it’s very normal for people to stick to one another during these train rides.

Imagine this scene. A hot guy and a cute girl meet on the train.

boy-girl

Suddenly the train gets super packed. Wooot! The train comes to a sudden halt and the girl’s heels give way, causing her to trip. The hot guy at this very second holds her just on time. She’s so emotional now, and feels that this is her dream guy and opens her mouth to say

girl

“Thank you…”

Guy faints.

(Due her bad breath)

Now this is the kind of scenario when mints can come in handy.

Before, I used to have the habit of poppin’ those mints in my mouth whenever I felt that my own breath was intolerable.

Now I still do it, but discreetly. I pretend I’m coughing and enigmatically slip them in my mouth. I don’t mean to be hideous. But I’m left with no choice!

Cane me publicly

KUALA LUMPUR – A MUSLIM woman who has been sentenced to six strokes of the rotan for drinking beer has asked for the punishment to be carried out in public, not in a prison in Selangor.

Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, who is set to be caned next week, said she should be punished in public if the Islamic court had intended for it to be a lesson to all Muslims.

But religious experts, including the Malaysian Syariah Lawyers Association and the Islamic adviser to the Prime Minister, said public flogging is unnecessary, as long as the offender has learnt her lesson.

‘I think the punishment is fair, but it should be done in public for everyone to see so that people will learn. Let’s be transparent,’ Kartika, 32, told The Straits Times in a phone interview on Wednesday.

The Pahang Syariah High Court on Wednesday issued a warrant for the mother of two to be remanded in Kajang prison from next Monday.

She is to be caned within seven days of the remand at the Selangor prison. This means the punishment will be carried out during the fasting month, which starts on Saturday. The punishment will make her the first woman in Malaysia to be caned.

Kartika, a Malaysian who is married to a Singaporean, was sentenced to six strokes and fined RM5,000 (S$2,000) for drinking in a hotel in Cherating, Pahang, while on holiday with friends two years ago. She pleaded guilty and paid the fine. Under Malaysian syariah law, an offender who drinks alcohol can receive up to six strokes, be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed for three years.

Being caned under the Islamic law in Malaysia is unlike the civil corporal punishment. Under the syariah law, a male offender stands, while a female offender sits with her feet tucked in, during the caning. The officer must not raise his hand above his shoulder when caning the woman, so that the caning strength is lighter.

In civil punishment, women are exempted from flogging. For men who get whipped, they are hit on the buttocks with a rotan that breaks their bare skin and draws blood with each stroke.

Kartika will not be caned in public as the punishment must be held within the law, explained Pahang state syariah deputy public prosecutor Saiful Idham Sahimi.

Couple chased out by son

Filed under: Uncategorized — Grace @ 12:58 pm

AN ELDERLY couple in Singapore who gave up their duplex to their son ended up homeless after he chased them out of the house, Sin Chew Daily reported on Thursday.

The couple now call the staircase of a school their home.

The man, who gave his surname as Lim, was a manager before he retired. He has a son and a daughter who live in Jurong.

Relating his ordeal to a secretary of the school, Mr Lim said he and his wife decided to give their duplex home to their son as a wedding gift about two years ago.

The couple thought that they could live in the house with their son. He, however, decided to sell the property for RM960,000 to buy another condominium. Mr Lim and his wife were then sent off to live with their daughter.

After a year, the daughter decided that they were no longer welcome and banned them from touching her children.

The couple could not enter the house after their daughter changed the locks to the house. — THE STAR/ANN

Miserable Monday

Filed under: Uncategorized — Grace @ 11:57 am

I felt that the year just started but it’s Mid-August so fast. Which isn’t exactly a good thing. It just reminds me that I’m getting older, and I FRIGGIN’ HATE THAT.

With age, comes about wisdom, responsibilities and what not. Why can’t I be the same young kid I used to be? The irony is that when I was younger, I wished time would fly so that I would start working instead of dragging myself to school. But now, I wish that somehow my life could re-wind so that I can have my school life back.

sch

I mean come on, now we spend 9 hours a day at work. (I’m including lunchtime ‘cos I spend my lunchtime in my work premises. That one hour isn’t any different.) And last time we used to whine to spend a pathetic amount of 6 hours (And this includes recess time!) at school. When all you did was to have fun. And now what I can do is sit and whine.
