Easter Egg

Do you remember in your Kindergarden or Primary school days, you had to bring an egg to school to do Easter Egg Painting?
untitled4Yesterday while I was having dinner with Dharshini and Prita at a Japanese Restaurant in IMM, Dharshi recollected this funny incident about me in Kindergarden. I actually forgot about it till she refreshed my memory.

It seems when I was in Kindergarden, my teacher told us each to bring an egg for Easter celebrations the next day. So off I went back home and told my mother that I needed to bring an egg to school. My mum found it weird to pass me the egg, especially since I’m such a clumsy kid. She kept asking me what I needed it for, but I didn’t tell her. (Probably I didn’t see the need to.) So she put the egg inside a container and passed it to me.

I went to class and then realised that all the other kids had the insides of the egg emptied. They also had a little round shaped crack at the bottom of the egg. (So that we could wear the egg in our little index fingers for easy painting.)

Oh Shit!

Oh Shit!

So I was getting freaked out now, especially since my Teacher was as fierce as a bulldog. Then the bulldog asked us to put all our eggs on the little table at the sides of our class. We were supposed to do the egg painting at the end of the day. I went through the rest of the day with butterflies in my stomach, with the fear of getting caught by the bulldog.

The time came, and she asked us all to take an egg each for Easter Egg painting. I quickly grabbed one with the insides emptied and sat on my chair like a good girl. I didn’t know what happened to the egg I brought lah. So I was having fun painting the Egg when suddenly I heard the bulldog barking at a girl who was close to tears. I then realised, that poor girl was holding on to the egg I brought, and had her hand got all messy with the paint, since she couldn’t wear it on her fingers.

I carried on with my painting with a sigh of relief. A sigh of relief which meant, ’Thank god, I wasn’t caught!’

So I rushed back home and passed my beautiful artwork to my sister and told her exactly what happened. She laughed and laughed. And is still laughing 18 years after.

I know I was a mean kid and all. But I’ve turned into a new leaf! But what goes around, comes around yeah?

Must be ‘cos of that Karma that I keep getting blamed for things I never did.
